Super Bowl XLIV will put stress on South Florida’s hospitality but it doesn’t have to put stress on those who will travel to Sun Life Stadium.

Angie’s List, the nation’s leading provider of consumer reviews on local service companies, conducted a pre-game study of the potential pitfalls waiting for Super Bowl travelers and put together tips to help score nothing but a great time.

“If you’re investing dollars and time to be at the Super Bowl this weekend, you want to get the most out of it,” said Angie’s List Founder Angie Hicks. “Don’t just grab your team jersey and a credit card – do the work now so you can play all weekend without penalty.”

Angie’s List Super Bowl Planning Tips:

• Air travel: You probably have your plane tickets all lined up. Do yourself a favor now and photocopy your driver’s license and your confirmation info. If you lose your ID, you’ll be able to use the copy to convince the travel authorities to let you get back home.
• Pack light: Most airlines are charging for baggage. If you’re traveling from, say Indianapolis, wear your coat and pack the shorts.
• Snacks: Take your own snacks and avoid the mark-up.
• Rental cars: Check your own auto insurance before buying rental car insurance. You may find you are already covered.
• Scalping: Florida allows ticket scalping, but there are always scams to be pulled. Play it safe by buying only through a licensed broker. Check the National Association of Ticket Brokers’ website to make sure your broker is a member.
• Negotiate. Ticket brokers often purchase tickets for below face value. Don’t be afraid to ask for a better deal.
• Your money’s no good here. Never pay for a ticket with cash or a money order. Always use a credit card so you have recourse in case the ticket is invalid.
• Seat’s taken. Look at the venue’s seating chart before buying any tickets. This will help you avoid buying counterfeit tickets.
• Down in front. If you’re paying a premium expecting to have a birds-eye-view, make sure you’re not buying a seat with an obstructed view (OV).
